Since I was a little girl I always dreamed of seeing elephants and lions in the wild. So when I first planned my internship in Tanzania I knew that a Safari in the Serengeti and Ngoro Ngoro were a must-do for me.

Therefore, I decided to conclude my first month of working with a unforgettable safari. Even better that my best friend decided to join.

We planned our safari tour with Gadventures, a group travel company that offers authentic and sustainable travel for adults of all age groups. We decided to choose a travel style of basic comfort level (mainly camping and hostels) and therefore ended up booking a safari trip that was firstly extremely well organised and secondly, compared to alternatives, affordable.

Our trip started in Arusha where we headed to a two day safari through the Serengeti with our own private safari vehicles and experienced safari guide. On our first evening we experienced my personal highlight of the trip: in the midst of a picturesque savanna during golden hour we were lucky enough to spot a pack of lions with 3 cubs. The scene was straight out of lion king and it got even more unbelievable when a rainbow appeared in the background. Truly a dream - I never knew I had - come true.

The perfect end to a perfect day was camping in the wild preceeded by a bonfire and an unforgettable starry sky. Few people from our group encountered hyenas on their way back to the tent which I (un)fortunately could only hear from inside the tent during the night.

The third night we camped on the crater rim of Ngoro Ngoro. The safari in the crater was an amazing experience since the landscape is unique and the animals come breathtakingly close. It was also the day when we successfully completed our hunt (figure of speech!) for the big five.

All in all it was an incredibly mind-blowing experience, leaving me and the other travellers speechless and astonished multiple times. The wildlife and the landscapes we encountered were amongst the most beautiful I've ever seen and I am 100% sure that I will sooner or later - probably sooner - go on a safari trip again.
